Our Story

We first found each other in the strange little universe of Twitter in 2020, when Deeksha was still in India and Raunaq was in Australia. For years, we existed mostly as names on a screen until Sydney finally brought us together in February 2023. We ate pancakes, bookshopped, and then ate dinner again; somehow it felt easy from the start. Since then, our life together has been built in the small, ordinary ways love often is: films, gym sessions, long walks through Sydney, favourite meals, weekends spent reading, laughing, and slowly becoming part of each other’s everyday lives.

Raunaq fought with Deeksha on the first date so he could take leftover Dal Tadka home as takeaway.

Flow of Events

Across two days in Delhi, we will move from colour to music to ceremony. We begin around noon on the 4th December with Haldi, a bright and joyful start to the celebrations. That evening, we gather again for our cocktail/sangeet night, with lots of dancing and performances. On the afternoon of 5th December, we come together for the wedding itself, surrounded by the people we love most. We hope the days feel warm, relaxed, full of food and laughter!

We begin with haldi, a morning of colour, laughter, turmeric, and all the affectionate chaos that only families can create. Come ready for sunshine, music, and a ceremony that is as much about blessing us as it is about everyone looking delightfully ridiculous by the end of it. Suggested attire: bright Indian festive. Orange, pink, yellow, olive green, and joyful colours are very welcome.

The evening is for music, dancing, drinks, and the kind of performances that will definitely be remembered and possibly brought up for years. Think glam, a little sparkle, a little drama, and a lot of dancing with people you may have only just met. Suggested attire: Retro/Disco. Dress up, get jiggy with it, and bring your best dance floor energy.

On the afternoon of 5 December, we will get married surrounded by our closest family and friends. After everything that has brought us here, from online conversations across continents to building a life together in Sydney, this is the moment we get to share with all of you. Accommodation has been arranged for the nights of 4 and 5 December, so you can settle in, celebrate properly, and not worry about the logistics of where to stay.

Delhi in December is usually cool and pleasant, especially in the evenings. We recommend carrying a light jacket or shawl, particularly for the night events.
